Sitting Pretty Part Two

Today was another wonderful spring like day. 'D&D' were off today, so they spent alot of time outside working on the yard and the flower beds. (I wonder why they are called beds? I see no pillows or covers there).

Of course I was not allow to go outside. Oh, but do I want to. Inside the house, I can only see as far as the walls, but outside, you can see forever! And that is where I want to go. So I lean against the door and peer through the window screen, looking at them.

And then, 'D' says to me .... "Oh Keldan Kitty! What are you doing? Are you enjoying looking outside? Now don't put your claws on the screen. Do you hear me???"

Does he really think I am going to answer him through the screen door? What a nut. Doesn't he realize if I speak through the screen door I will strain my voice?

That was a joke. Screen door ...... strain ..... get it?

Oh why do I waste my humor on you humans!

Fake Spring?

My oh my! Was it a nice day outside today! I heard 'D' say it was over 60 degrees! I do not know exactly what 'degrees' means, but my nose told me that we were in the makings of Spring!

I had a feeling that Spring was around the corner. 'D' have been receiving a lot of catalogs in the mail. Gardening catalogs. He pours over them, marking on this page and that! I guess humans get Spring fever as well.

'D' then will talk about his flowers when he is looking over these catalogs. He does have pretty flowers (those are his pictured with this post. Grew them last year).

Sometimes he brings cut flowers into the house. They smell so good - strange but good. Of course, being the curious kitty that I am, I always wonder what they would taste like. And of course I do take a nip out of them every now and then. Hmmmmm most of them do not taste good! But they are pretty to look at!

Some snow, then warm.

We did get some snow the other day. Beautiful, white snow. Of course 'D&D' prefer NOT to have snow, but I think it looks pretty. Cold but pretty. And today it was over 50 degrees outside. I could see that spring was around the corner just by looking out the window. I can hardly wait.

Of course I will not be allowed outside - but I will be able to sit on the kitchen counter to look out the door to see the birdies and such.

Cats get spring fever too you know. It's not just a human thing.

And the most fun part about springtime, is that bugs get into the house.

And 'crunch crunch crunch' it's snack time for Keldan!

Spring in January

It was such a nice day today. 'D' opened the back door, and opened the glass window on the door to allow the wind inside the house.

Man, was I in heaven. All those smells! And the air was so clean and fresh. I hopped upon the counter to look outside - at the bare trees and the dirty ground. The air was telling me it was spring, but the actual look of the outside still screamed winter.

And the birds! There were chirping and singing and acting all idiotic! And they were making me feel - I don't know - frisky! I wanted to run and jump and roll around on the ground. I wanted to chase them, and scare them, and laugh at them when they flew away.

Then I noticed the bugs! Bugs! In January! In Winter! Where did they come from?????

Didn't they freeze when the temps were down low? Were they hiding? Do bugs digs holes in the dirt and await warm weather?

I didn't care. I had spring fever - and I wanted to be able to sit on that counter and enjoy the breezes forever.

I know I will sleep well tonight. And I'll dream .... dream .... dream.

And yes! We do dream about chasing butterflies in a meadow. Just wanted to put that myth to rest.

Up There

"What are you doing up there?"
"How did you get up there?"
"Come down off from there, do you hear me?"

These humans ask so many questions. D&D ask me these questions all the time, and it seems since November .... daily.

I want to say, "and exactly where did the both of you get your educations?"

It is simple logic. Warm air rises. It's winter time. It's colder than the summer/spring/fall months. Why do you think I am 'up there'?

Sometimes humans do not use their noggins.
